This AWARD WINNING city-wide event returns for another year that

“looks like a night straight out of a Hallmark movie!"

Friday, December 5, 2020 | 4:30–9 pm

Start the night on Market Street @ 4:30pm
Do some holiday shopping at our Christmas Market,

Parade starts at 5:30 pm with mayoral tree lighting directly after. 

There is enough for the whole family to make a night of it!

Activities of all ages will take place in downtown North Vernon.

Christmas in the City FAQ

Q: Do I need to register?
No, this is a free event and no registration is required. All are welcome to attend.  The only thing you need to register for is if you are interested in entering a float into the parade.  Please follow us on Facebook in order to be in the know when those forms become available.

Q: Where should I park?
This event takes place at locations all within downtown North Vernon near or at Stellar Plaza.  City Hall, Police Station Napa Auto Parts and near Brick Street Restaurant will likely fill quickly, but plenty of parking will be available at or along the streets near downtown area. See the map for all open lots.

Q: What time can my child meet Santa?
The Christmas Market will open at 4:30 pm along, Parade begins at 5:30, Tree Lighting festivities take immediately after which kicks off the all other activities.  After Mayor Mike Ochs lights the Christmas Tree, santa’s workshop will be open, live nativity, live music and kiddie train rides and food will begin.  Life for Santa will be cut at 9 pm.

Q: What time will the Live performances start?
Usually around 5:30 pm, but is dependent upon the length of parade and tree lighting.

Q: Will there be food and drink for purchase?
Yes, but most all food and drinks available are either free will donation, free and/or some might opt to charge.  Homemade cookies, chocolate milk, coffee, hot soups and dessertes are all potentially available that night along with others.

Q: Can I bring my stroller/wagon?
Strollers/wagons will be permitted

Q: Do I need to drive back and forth to the to each of the festivities?
Nope.  Once you find a parking spot you can enjoy all the activities within walking distances from each other.

Q: What should I bring with me?
Warm clothes/jackets to enjoy outdoor activities
A camera or phone to take pictures with Santa
Money for purchasing/donations for food, refreshments and market items
